Description
• To tackle the free-rider problem of group project, I asked students to report to me the group project progress during the week 7 tutorial class. Any students who failed to contribute their time and effort for group project could be identified. And I could approach those students to offer further academic support if they encountered difficulty in doing group project. Such proactive actions could eliminate potential free-rider problems. Morever, students were asked to fill out a peer review from for group project. This would help to minimize ‘Free rider’ problem and group conflict.• Encouraged students to ethically use AI (e.g. ChatGPT) to proofread their English writing for their individual assignments and group reports. Students reported that the use of AI could help them to polish their written English, leading to higher English proficiency.
• Real-life examples, case studies, video clips, and interactive discussions were adopted in lectures and tutorials. Very favourable responses were received from students. Feedback from students suggested that these teaching methods could deepen their understanding for those complex theories and concepts of staffing and HR management.
• In-class review exercises were adopted in lectures to help students recap the fundamental concepts.
• In order to further enhance the critical thinking development of students, recent news related to the staffing issues of Hong Kong organizations were used for in-class discussion.
• To enhance students’ learning engagement in my class, I encouraged students to complete the in-class exercise before attending tutorial class. Next, I asked students to indicate their answers through the e-learning tool – Poll Everywhere during class under a limited time. Once students are aware that they could get extra in-class exercises marks through the Poll Everywhere system, most of them completed their exercises at home.
• To enhance student's writing skills and confidence for taking examination, more past paper exercises with case analysis are provided for students to practice during the lecture class.
• Assignment and group project guidelines were provided to students during the third week of the semester. Therefore students could start to do their assignments earlier.
