Description
Our proposed project is as follows:The main objective of this educational engagement project is to conserve the cultural heritage of the Buddhist temple community in the northwest of Lantau Island, particularly focusing on the communities centred around Ngong Ping, Lower Keung-shan, and the Fa-mun Traditional Path. These Buddhist temples, located in the tranquil northwest of Lantau Island, are valuable educational resources and spiritual sanctuaries.
We plan to organize and develop a series of activities and educational materials, including guided tours along different routes, online short courses, and a mobile application for self-guided tours. Participants will engage in mindful walking, photography, and video production to explore the Fung Mon Ancient Trail. Through on-site exploration and experiential learning, participants will gain insights into the historical culture and Buddhist architecture of Lantau Island, fostering their understanding of and appreciation for the island's heritage and Buddhist culture. They will also have the opportunity to experience the natural environment chosen by Buddhist practitioners of the past for their secluded retreats.
We submitted our project proposal to the CPCE research office in early February 2024, and the results are expected to be announced by the end of this year.
