Description
As the Subject Leader for SHDH2025 Love, Intimacy and Identity, I am responsible for overseeing the academic quality, pedagogical coherence, and operational delivery of the subject. This interdisciplinary course examines the sociocultural, psychological, and discursive dimensions of love, desire, intimacy, and identity, particularly through the lens of gender and sexuality studies. My core contributions and responsibilities include:-Research Integration and Innovation: Four transgender storytelling (TGST) workshops, conducted jointly for SHDH2025 Love, Intimacy and Identity and SHDH2015 Gender and Issues, were held in two semesters in collaboration with the local transgender youth organization Quarks. These workshops were held between October 2024 and April 2025, with a total of more than 550 student participants. These workshops were part of a larger funded research project titled “Can a transgender storytelling (TGST) workshop change students’ empathetical feelings and attitudes about transgender individuals?: A triangulation approach”, supported by the Faculty Development Scheme (FDS), Research Grants Council (RGC) (Project Ref: UGC/FDS24/H15/23; HKD 444,897; Project Duration: Jan 2024 – Dec 2025). This initiative represents a strong intersection of teaching, research, and community engagement, reinforcing the course's emphasis on critical empathy, inclusion, and evidence-based pedagogy.
-Curriculum Design and Oversight: Developing and maintaining a dynamic and inclusive syllabus that reflects contemporary scholarship and real-world issues. The course integrates critical theories, case studies, and reflective practices to encourage students to critically examine personal and societal understandings of intimacy and identity.
-Assessment Design and Alignment: Designing and reviewing assessment tasks that promote critical thinking, empathy, and analytical engagement.
-Visiting Lecturer Supervision: Supervising and supporting visiting lecturers assigned to the subject to ensure alignment with course objectives, assessment standards, and pedagogical consistency.
-Quality Assurance and Reporting: Monitoring student performance, addressing feedback, and working closely with the course moderators to maintain academic integrity and teaching excellence.
