Subject Proposer Duties – LCS2351 / LCH2351 Writing Smart: Enhancing Your English Skills with AI ToolsApproved by CPCE GUR Committee (December 2024)
As the Subject Proposer for LCS2351 / LCH2351 Writing Smart: Enhancing Your English Skills with AI Tools, the team was responsible for the conceptualization, design, and successful submission of this innovative subject, which was officially approved by the CPCE GUR Committee in December 2024 as part of the General University Requirements (GUR) curriculum.
Key responsibilities and contributions included:
-Curriculum Design and Subject Justification
Developed the subject’s aims, learning outcomes, syllabus content, and assessment structure to address emerging needs in English academic writing and AI literacy. The course is designed to equip students with artificial intelligence and practical skills in using generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT) to support the writing process.
-Pedagogical Innovation
Proposed a blended learning approach combining theoretical input on academic writing principles with hands-on workshops and AI-integrated writing tasks. Emphasis was placed on ethical AI use, reflective writing practices, and critical engagement with AI-generated content to promote both language development and digital literacy.
-Alignment with Institutional Goals
Ensured that the subject aligns with CPCE’s emphasis on interdisciplinary learning, innovation, and responsible technology use in higher education. The course contributes to students’ communication, critical thinking, and lifelong learning competencies in the digital age.
-Subject Proposal Documentation and Committee Engagement
Led the preparation of the formal subject proposal, including rationale, course materials, proposed assessments, and resource requirements. Attended meetings and responded to feedback from the Division of Languages and Communication and the CPCE GUR Committee during the review and approval process.
