Dr. Edward Wen holds a Ph.D. in Applied English Linguistics from The Chinese University of Hong Kong. He was a Morley Scholar at the University of Michigan's English Language Institute in 2011 and served as a Visiting Fellow at the University of Macau in 2024. He also participated twice in the Macau Tertiary Education Professionals Training scheme, attending training programs at University of Cambridge (Clare Hall) in 2018, and at Coimbra University in 2019.

Dr. Wen joined the College of Professional and Continuing Education (CPCE) at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University in January 2025. He brings onboard over 25 years of experience in tertiary-level English language teaching and teacher training in the Greater Bay Area, as well as corporate business English training and language services including translation. Prior to his role at CPCE, Dr. Wen served as a Professor in the Department of English Language and Literature at Hong Kong Shue Yan University, where he also held the positions of Interim Head and PhD supervisor of the Department. He previously worked as an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Languages and Translation at Macao Polytechnic University. Dr. Wen is passionate about recognizing the unique qualities and potential of his diverse students, a strong advocate of language diversity, inclusive education, and personalized approaches to language learning and teaching.

As a dedicated researcher, Dr. Wen has a wide range of research interests, including second language acquisition, bilingual and multilingual cognition, task-based language teaching, translanguaging theory and practice, cognitive translation and interpreting, discourse and genre analysis, and recently the integration of digital technologies and artificial intelligence in language education. He is an accomplished scholar with internationally recognized expertise in language aptitude, working memory, and translanguaging. As of January 2025, he has published over 70 academic papers and book chapters and authored or co-edited 10 monographs with prestigious publishers including Cambridge University Press and Oxford University Press

Dr. Wen also actively contributes to the research community, having organised and convened well-attended roundtable symposiums across the Greater Bay Area, delivering a dozen of keynote speeches and presenting numerous papers at both local and international conferences. Additionally, he serves as the Director and Executive Committee Member of several academic organizations, as well as holding positions as Editor-in-Chief, Associate Editor, Guest Editor and Editorial Board Member for various international journals.
