Dr. Helen Yeh is a highly accomplished individual with a wealth of experience and expertise in language learning and education. She earned her Doctor of Education degree from the University of Bristol, where she conducted groundbreaking research on the effective framework of independent language learning using digital tools. This research formed the foundation for her subsequent work in coordinating and managing self-directed language learning centers within CPCE. In this role, Dr. Yeh oversaw various operational aspects, provided exemplary organizational leadership, and designed engaging learning activities to empower students on their independent language learning journeys.
Dr. Yeh's contributions extend far beyond her practical involvement in language learning centers. She is actively engaged in scholarly writing and research, and her work has been published in prestigious conference proceedings, books, book chapters, and international peer-reviewed journals. Her expertise and knowledge are highly regarded, as evidenced by her membership in the editorial review board of esteemed publications like the International Journal of Computer-Assisted Language Learning and the International Journal of Adult Vocational Education and Technology. Her research interests are diverse, encompassing areas such as independent language learning, computer-mediated communication, bilingualism, language curriculum design, language teaching/learning methodologies, and business communication.
In addition to her academic pursuits, Dr. Yeh dedicates considerable time and effort to applied linguistics and language curriculum development. She has played a pivotal role in developing various language courses for sub-degree and degree programs, as well as continuing education. One of her most cherished courses is "Doing Things with Words: The Nature of Human Communication," which reflects her deep understanding of the intricacies of language and communication.
With extensive teaching experience, Dr. Yeh has instructed a wide range of courses in English, Business Communication, Bilingualism, Bilingual Education, Language Curriculum, English for Specific Purposes, and English for Academic Studies at various levels within tertiary institutions. Furthermore, she has conducted teacher training programs at secondary schools and educational centers, equipping educators with the necessary skills to deliver effective language instruction.
Outside of her professional endeavors, Dr. Yeh emphasizes the importance of a balanced and fulfilling life. She takes pleasure in activities such as watching movies, stage performances, and sports. Her passion for movies has even opened doors for her to serve in a statutory body related to the film industry. Moreover, she actively engages in professional and community services, assuming leadership roles in various local and international organizations. Currently, she serves as a school manager for a primary school, where she ensures the delivery of quality education. She has also founded an alumni association dedicated to language studies, fostering a vibrant and tightly-knit community of language enthusiasts.
