Professional Information
Dr. Wience LAI is Associate Head and Senior Lecturer of the Division of Languages and Communication, College of Professional and Continuing Education, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. She is currently serving as the Deputy Director of the CPCE Centre for Pedagogic Research (CPCECPR).
Teaching
Dr Lai teaches Phonetics, Business English, Academic English, Oral Communication, Writing, and Grammar subjects.
Research interests
Her research interests lie mainly in phonetics and phonology, the relationship between speech production and perception, second language teaching, Writing across the Curriculum and more recently also on AI/VR-assisted language learning and teaching as well as teacher professional development.
Personal profile
Outside academia, Dr Lai is an experienced independent traveller and has visited 40 countries worldwide, an interest that continues to shape her global perspective on language, communication, and higher education.
