This is a research proposal (Teaching and Research Excellence Fund) submitted to CPCECPR in March 2023.

The research project aims to:
1) Examine university students’ views towards English fiction and literature.
2) Find out the effectiveness of the English Reading and Writing Requirements stipulated by PolyU, which are facilitated by computer-mediated communication (CMC).
3) Examine positive and negative impacts of using English literature as a content-based second language instruction pedagogy.
4) Inform ESL education and curriculum design at the tertiary level in Hong Kong.
