Abstract

Tai O is a place that is full of life. Removing those unfavorable conditions there, the community of Tai O can develop sustainably well. We believe development is a process of expanding the freedoms that people enjoy, and the “capabilities” of persons to lead the kind of lives they value.

Over the span of 15 years, this on-going project consisted of 3 parts: research, planning proposal and built work, which lead to publication, planning competition entries and on-site construction works. The project demonstrated how the visions of the people can be realized in the process of development, especially those underprivileged.
