N2 - Numerical simulations were performed to study the heat transfer characteristics of the impingement plate of an impinging flame jet system consisting of a premixed butane/air circular flame jet impinging vertically upward upon a horizontal rectangular plate at laminar flow condition. The study concentrated mainly on the effect of thermal conductivity of the impingement plate on its heat flux. A uniform temperature boundary condition was assumed at the water-side of the plate. In order to deal with the very complicated boundary conditions at the flame-side of the plate, experimental datum of the flame temperature were correlated using a multi-polynomial function. The heat flux distributions on the impingement plate, with the variations of Reynolds number (Re), were numerically simulated. Comparison between the experimental and numerical work has been made.
