Abstract
'Better Education and Training to prevent Medical Mishap' This paper describes the key quality issues in healthcare services and their impacts. The major determinants of service quality in healthcare delivery system are the doctors and the processes. A number of common and very important quality assurance procedures and practices are described, including basic and continuing education of doctors and nurses, process management and the roles of key stake-holders like the government, licensing authorities and professional colleges. Quality assurance programmes in both of the public and private sectors are illustrated with examples to allow for better understanding of some practical approaches in the two types of medical practices that are operating very differently.
